{aloha advice} More of the Best Things to Eat in Maui
I thought I had seen and tasted most of Maui by now, since we keep going back again and again – but on our most recent trip, I found even more fantastic things to eat. I was especially wowed by the new-ish Star Noodle, which we went back to multiple times. I wish I could go there right now. It’s in a weird warehouse-y area and seems an unlikely spot for the best food in Maui, but I definitely think it’s a contender. The Filipino “Bacon and Eggs” was one of my favorite dishes.
The Brussels sprouts, tempura shrimp, ahi with avocado, and ramen were all great there too. My sidekick was a big fan of their noodles too!
We stayed for part of the time at the gorgeous new Andaz Maui in Wailea (thank you for the free nights, Hyatt credit card) and we had a fantastic splurge-y meal at Ka’ana Kitchen there. The farm-to-table food and cocktails are excellent and the views certainly can’t be beat!
I’m not sure what drove us to eat breakfast at Slappy Cakes, a make-your-own-pancake place, but in the end we had a really fun time and enjoyed the pancakes. It’s a treat for kids, but despite the restaurant being enormous, there is usually a wait for a table.
In Kihei, we also love Kihei Caffe for a great breakfast, although the breakfasts are pretty big and heavy so it’s ideal after an energetic morning surf, swim, or snorkel. And no trip to Kihei is complete without at least one hot, gooey cinnamon roll from Cinnamon Roll Fair.
If you’re on the hunt for ice cream, Maui-made Ono Gelato is always my favorite. A cone with one scoop of cheesecake and one scoop of lilikoi (passion fruit) is about the closest you can get to perfect, in my book.
We wanted to try the much-loved and lauded Shark Pit food truck down in Ka’anapali, but alas, the day we went they were off on a catering job. At least we have something new to look forward to for next time!
