{make this} Blackberry Scones from Big Sur Bakery
I have experimented with a lot of scone recipes, and the results are in: this one from the Big Sur Bakery Cookbook is the best, hands down.
Big Sur Bakery is one of my happy places. Whether you’re picking up an oversized pastry in the morning pre-hike, or sitting on the garden patio for a leisurely lunch, it’s one of those small, local restaurants that manages to be nearly perfect. Of course, one of the best things about Big Sur Bakery is that it’s in one of the most beautiful places in the entire world.
One of the secrets of the scones is to freeze the berries for a few hours. This keeps them whole and makes the scones look prettier and more professional. Another secret is a crapload of butter. And yes, I like to put butter on them afterwards, too. Don’t judge.
The recipe, from the Big Sur Bakery Cookbook, is available at The Kitchn.
