{meat love} How To Make Bacon Hearts for your Valentine
Valentine’s Day is coming, which means it’s time to think about our loved ones. Candy? Flowers? Romantic poetry? Is that the best you can do?! This year, show your love with everyone’s favorite meat by making bacon hearts for your valentine!
These will come out a little funky, because bacon is like the Shrinky-Dink of the food world. So they will never look like perfect hearts, but they are BACON so no one will care. If you ever see a picture of perfect-looking heart-shaped bacon then I assure you there is something fishy going on.
But again, nobody cares. Because BACON.
How To Make Bacon Hearts
1. Buy some pretty thinly sliced bacon – none of that thick-cut stuff.
2. Preheat oven to 400 F. Prepare a sheet pan or cake pan with parchment paper. (Make sure the pan has sides so you don’t start a grease fire in the oven.)
3. Form hearts with slices of bacon. Just do your best. Make enough so that if a couple look super janky you have backups.
4. Optional: sprinkle a little bit of brown sugar and chili flakes on the bacon, so it seems more like “special” bacon that you “cooked” instead of just regular bacon.
5. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until crispy. Remove from oven.
6. Use a spatula to carefully remove to a plate covered with paper towels. (You can do a little shape rearranging at this point if it helps.)
7. Show your love by making the ultimate sacrifice of NOT EVEN EATING ONE PIECE before you present it on a nice plate. If your recipient does not offer you a piece, you have my permission to end the relationship.
NOTHING says love like bacon. Really nothing!
Fantastic idea!!!
Just about to make this for my other half’s birthday dinner but I was wondering if I could use turkey bacon instead.
It contains less sodium so is a little healthier (she’s on a diet…again!)
Keep up those awesome recipes coz I’m always looking for inspiration in the kitchen:)
